Support One of “Our Own” To Make an Indie Bookstore a Reality

Disclosure: I don’t receive any money, nor am I affiliated with Karen Blue, The KissinBlueKaren book blog, or That Book Store LLC

I’m just a book blogger who is living vicariously through someone who has the drive to make the dream of owning and managing an indie neighborhood bookstore come true. When I started following Karen’s blog and reading all about her dream coming to fruition, I knew I needed to help in some way– certainly financially down the road– but for now I’m using my social voice.

There is something I can do, and you can too, which won’t cost you a dime {but if you can donate a few dollars– that’s great too}. Please consider sharing Karen’s news on some form of social media: facebook, twitter, instagram, even just a link on your next newsy week wrap-up.

Let’s help one of our own: a book lover, a book blogger, a U.S. veteran, a female entrepreneur! I’m not even an old, close “bookish friend” of Karen’s; I’m just helping out because this is exciting for me. I couldn’t make this dream come true for me but if it works for someone else, that’s wonderful!

Let’s try to support and bring back the neighborhood corner bookstore, a place for shopping, chatting, book clubs, kids’ corner… a place we all can remember frequenting at one time or another! Meeting at a coffee shop is good, but it’s more fun to gather at an indie bookstore and talk books. {hint~ hey Karen, how about an online book club through your store’s website in the future}? And folks, if you’re reading this post then you must be some type of bibliophile… so let’s give a cheer to Karen and her daughter, Belle!

You’re welcome, Karen 🙂 Glad to help out in a small way.
I added the link on the bottom of my post for folks to find the site to donate a little, or a lot. Hope other bloggers will spread the news too!

I didn’t know that Karen from KissinBlueKaren is planning this so thanks for the heads up, Kari. I love browsing and visiting independent bookstores. We have a few in my town and they’re great.

Go Karen! I’ll visit your blog and find out more about this bookstore you’re hoping to open!

I think that anyone who was planning to buy a book through the mail (when the bookstore opens) should buy that title through That Bookstore to benefit Karen. We’d be buying the print book anyway, so just substitute TBS for B & N, etc…
Thanks, Jan for your support and comment.

Owning a bookstore! yes what a dream! I’ll visit Karen and share her news during my “spread the love for local bookstores and libraries” day 🙂 Awesome post Kari!

Week three of February is about spreading the love to Bookstores, libraries, etc. However, I pretty sure Karen is on my draft for Week two which is about spreading the love to bookbloggers because of the tips she has for book bloggers and the Beyond the Books features she hosts so I may mention the bookstore there too. And Thank you! I’m always reading your blog too <3<3

Okay, thanks! Your blog has so much to read and enjoy that I didn’t want to miss it. She does give good blogging tips and I want to join Beyond the Books next time. Anybody out there who hasn’t read Daniela, take a moment. You can read reviews, lists, about her writing in progress of her book, sometimes about her family, about blogging tips etc etc.

Thanks for the shout-out! Good luck with the bookstore. Reading shapes the future of our next generation, and indie neighborhood bookstores give us a sense of community.

We definitely need more neighborhood corner bookstores. Owning a bookstore sounds like a dream, but a lot of hard work as well. My thoughts are with Karen!

She now mentioned that she’s going to have to rely a lot on crowd-sourcing because the bank doesn’t have much faith in indie bookstores anymore 😦
